Everything that you received after you change your state of residence is taxable in your new state of residence, not VA. Until the date on the check is later than the date you changed your legal residence, you're good to go.
Be prepared to prove the date of your stay if changed! VA is noted for the fight against this type of problem if the dates are close. Copies of leases, closing statements HUD-1, revenue travel, the vehicle registration records, records of voter registration, so everyone can help prove the date you apply for legal residency changed.
