South Franklin Circle

South Franklin CirclePhilly: Where's the beef?

So my girlfriend and I went to Philadelphia for the first time and asked some local school where the best places to get a good sense of fun shopping / retail parts of Philly would be little tourism. I was told to go to the Franklin Institute, then start walnut, chestnut, and the streets south.

Heart of the Franklin Institute, but once we got out in the city, I have not found much at all what was so interesting about these three streets. I have not found good restaurants, not really good shopping on walnut / brown, and South Street that I expected to be funky and fun seemed dirty to be honest enough that my girlfriend wanted to turn around.

I'm used to equivalent areas of Boston, as Newbury Street and Downtown Crossing and Quincy Market Place, and Washington, Eastern Market and Dupont Circle, both of which seemed so much better than Philly I was really disappointed.

So, Philly, wheres the beef? My expectations are really too high, or I just miss a good part of Philly?

exactly what you looking for?
sounds like you didn't do much to Philly.

What you should do next time -

was going to art museum and see the rocks and exhibitions. About penitetntiary eastern state. even walk for the day was frightening. If you are upscale boutiques there are lots of cute shops in the old city by race / arch / bw 2nd and 4th street market. for real people and strange shops you must visit to South Street. If you want a boring drive your car center in King of Prussia - the largest center in the northeast. or Franklin Mills Mall largest shopping outlet in the north-east of Philadelphia (trashy)

such as food, the food is great Philly if you know where you are.
