Serviced Offices SohoIs it legal to re-use an XP installation CD re-key a new Dell computer?

I'm IT service provider for a SOHO (Small Office Home Office) client and the computer is currently Vista. She wants to use a Dell XP CD key from an old computer died and use it to load Vista on one to save money. Is this legal?

You'll probably have to call Microsoft and get a new key to activate it. They disable the old key so that any platform running in XP it will not be able to start Windows in a short time after someone is online with her. You do not want to install "XP on Vista". You need to get rid of XP to Vista before in. Make sure the drivers for XP all equipment to do so. A large number of new towers that come with Vista do not have XP drivers whatsoever to them. Totally legal as long as you use the operating system on a single computer.
Regarding a person who says it makes a difference OEM thats hogwash. The only difference compared with OEM retail is that you get free online help on Microsoft operating systems OEMs.

Ever! She can do whatever she wants with him?
I changed my Processer and video card in my PC and WinXP to register again. I had to call Microsoft to get a new key because he said the mine was already used. The lady at Microsoft told me when you make changes to your PC, you may need to buy a new copy of XP. After a short but angry that the argument I had with her, she gave me a new code.
If you read the terms and agree to Agreement during installation, you can not move from one computer to another. I do not agree with it and just install XP on that computer, but in theory it is illegal.

You can also you are not planing to use it for more than 1 machine that has been designed, just phone Microsoft on the registration number and said the motherboard had died (if its OEM copy), all computers I know that shops / worked for / with this practice (not sure of using a key on a dell Dell not) you also lose the ability to a complete system restore

It should b
but Microsoft has a way to make the keys do not correspond to other systems to prevent theft, as an ordinary key. And so if they dont match, it'll just be up to you to lock out the Internet or B just to let u use

If she owns so she can do anything but copy and sell it. Microsoft clearly states that the adaptation and sale is illegal. There is no way to adapt itself and not coping. But sales. If it was illegal for No One Cloud Buy Used XP CD from eBay.

depends, technically, if the OEM license key words on it then no. If not then this is not an OEM copy and can be used on another computer

.. Perfectly legal as long as the computer came the key is not used more for some reason, its no problem.

Not at all. Unless you use the old computer.
