Retirement homes floating Imagine a floating retirement home that includes accommodation for two with ocean views, all meals, co-ownership of a cruise ship, joining a Golf and Country Club in the month cruise to the Bahamas and annual cruise the Caribbean. Too good to be true?
Now offered by Waterfront Lifestyles International is the new concept for seniors in Florida. The retirement community is a luxury cruise ship, with dining room, lounges, night club, library, cafe / spa, fitness center, cigar bar, shops, medical center, sun deck, spa, Casino and shuffleboard. The ship is at Cape Canaveral with the proximity to famous attractions of Orlando and central Florida, including Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios and space launches.
Residents actually own a share of 1/100th of the vessel which includes cabins for two people, meals and use of the facilities of the vessel. Like a condo, they pay a maintenance fee proportional to the size and cost of their cabins (from 125-330 square feet).
This fee goes toward the operating expenses of the vessel. Since you are not buying real estate, sale will not be subject to property taxes, or closing costs. Members are currently an association of owners to make decisions concerning the maintenance of the vessel and monitor the fluctuation of monthly fees. The vessel is currently called "Alegria", but the association of owners will have the last word in his behalf. Result of shops, bars, casino and spa in back care funds to subsidize the operating budget.

Investors can even put off buying until retirement, and rents over time. Residents are also allowed to rent their cabs, but only a minimum one year lease.
