These include open heart and neurosurgery, comprehensive cancer care, inpatient rehabilitation for injuries and major stroke, imaging technologies and more sophisticated.

St. Charles is one level '2 Oregon Trauma Center east of the Cascade Mountains and has only the region of level 3 neonatal intensive care unit. The hospital increased its bed capacity to 216 patients hospitalized in late 2004 to keep pace with population growth in Central Oregon and in the middle of the expansion in facilities, equipment and technology.
