Retirement Communities New York

Retirement Communities New YorkWhere can I do community service?

14 years in New York I am and I'm interested in law enforcement, law, fire department and things like that, but unfortunately I do not think these places leaving 14 years to perform community service there. I was wondering what organizations would be good for a 14 year old to work. The only thing is a retirement home is not an option and is not a library. If you know an animal shelter that hires 14 for community services, this would be great. Thank you :-)

Visit New York Cares (www.nycares.org). It is the best volunteer center in New York. It lists hundreds of volunteer opportunities.

I would go to your local fire department and enforecment law and whether there is something you can do.

You may want to consider having a group to help collect things that a fire department can use. Or maybe collecting blankets and towels for an animal shelter. Maybe if you could get an adult to go with you, you could volunteer at the library.
Do you think a food pantry or homeless shelter? How would you collect things that would help a domestic violence shelter. Many times a mother escapes (in general) to a refuge and along her children. These children leave with their own PJ's and maybe a stuffed toy. They wake up every morning without a hairbrush, toothbrush, clean underwear, socks, or anything. Maybe you could collect things that these kids could use.

Maybe you can call your local police department and ask them if they have a program like this site Police Explorer in New York a.

WHAT THE POLICE EXPLORER PROGRAM?

Law enforcement exploring is learning for life, career and leadership development program that gives an overview of youth in the skills and techniques necessary to succeed in life and as a police officer. The program is sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America and the Police Department of Suffolk County. The program of youth-oriented professional specialty is approved by federal agencies, state and local law enforcement, the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Sheriff Association. More than 2800 police and sheriff's departments have organized Explorer specialized positions in law enforcement. While the explorers did not work as police officers, they may provide assistance in public service programs, such as crime prevention programs. Explorers have the advantage of seeing first hand what exactly the law enforcement profession entails and whether or not they wish to pursue that profession.

I'm old enough for the police Explorer program?

The Police Explorer program is open to men and women aged 14-20.
