Located directly across from Union Station, St. Louis, Aloe Plaza fountain is a beautiful place which is filled with natural beauty and tranquility amid the bustling business city. It has one of the most beautiful pieces of art into the city and is a major tourist destination in the region a traveler should go for a breath of fresh air and some wind from the restless traveler.
Aloe Plaza is named in honor of Louis P. Aloe died in 1929. He served as Chairman of the Board of Alderman from 1916 to 1923 and led the movement for passage of the bond issue.
"The Meeting of Waters", a sculpture that is built around a fountain is a work of sculptor Carl Milles. It is believed that Aloe Edith, wife of Louis P. Aloe was obsessed by the art of Swedish sculptor Carl Milles and his obsession has opened the way for the purchase of his talent to build this monument, just after the Great Depression.
The fountain was originally named "The Marriage of rivers" symbolizes the union of the Missouri and Mississippi. He is represented by the two central characters, one male and female in the other monument that forms a procession accompanied by 17 other spirits water smaller which means the smaller rivers that meet these two major rivers.
With the serenity and peace around the artistic, Aloe Plaza is definitely missed in St. Louis area.
