Introduction

Briggs (1883) argues that Egerton Ryerson was one of the most influential people in the education system in Canada. It was an evangelical, but more importantly, he was an educator. This title has been granted during his years of service as Chief Superintendent of Education. Early in its mandate, the educational system of Upper Canada has an urgent need for reform. It has been characterized by discrimination, most children in care belonged to colonial administrators. Biography of Egerton Ryerson

Egerton Ryerson was born in March during the year 1803. It was in Charlotteville in the country of Norfolk. He was a son of Colonel Joseph was a Loyalist Ryerson of the United Empire. Ryerson was educated at Grammar School District of London. He liked reading. Paley, Blackstone, Blair, Locke, Virgil, Horace and were some of the many books that loved to indulge in. There Egerton had a moment of his life when he read too much to fall ill.

Ryerson became a missionary when he joined the Methodist church. He lived among the Indians and was known to participate in work activities as it would be seen from time to time working in the fields. This ended in 1825 when he was ordained pastor of the Church it. The Methodist Church needs someone to represent them against the charges made by the established Anglican Church and there was no better person to do so at Ryerson University. Anglicans have argued that the Methodists had no sense of patriotism and they were traitors. During the following year, Ryerson wrote a letter of thirty pages that have a large influence on the people of the earth, even his own father was shocked by his actions.
