Can I rent an office outside the state-space-used by local staff, with one bedroom for travelers from other staff? I run a tutoring program in the state, who needs me and other officers of the company to visit for training and management. Instead of paying exorbitant hotel fees, if our company to rent a small house, the upper floor for office workers, and the merits of outside visitors to the state, can I deduct the rent as office expense?
It should be OK, if you can find a home that is zoned commercial / residential and the city will allow you to use as a hotel. You will need to get proper authorization.
It seems that you can deduct the rent, not as office expenses.
