How easy or difficult is it to get warranty coverage of homebuilders? My ceiling started leaking at ground level. I spoke with a guarantee to both home builder and the contractor and they were both polite and yet very adamant that this is not covered under warranty because of 3-10 years, as breakdowns structural element are covered and the ceiling leaking is not included in the structural element failure.
However, the manufacturer has agreed to come to my house and inspect the leak, even if they have been very clear he will not be covered by the warranty.
1) Now, is to have the constructor take a look at a mistake and that I should cancel the appt?
2) What is the probability that damage my house will be covered if I write to BBB and Attorney General of my state?
And I want your advice, because overall I think I need to hire and pay my own contractor to repair the first to stop further damage to the ceiling leak that may rot if left no repaired. After that, I must request a refund, but they will do what they can do not to reimburse me. I can already say talk with them again today.
If it is stated in your policy that ceiling leaking is not covered, you can argue until you're blue in the face, but it wont do you good.
Regarding with the manufacturer to inspect the damage, I do not see that it would hurt anything until he understands that you do not pay him anything (be sure to inform the former.) It might even give you a deal, they say things are slow in the recent construction and contractors are bad for the work in this area anyways.Your area may be different.
