Home Insurance

Home InsuranceYour home insurance provides full coverage?

When you leave home insurance (insurance Contents insurance is paying for damage or loss of personal possessions a person while they are located in the home that person.) is a good idea make sure your coverage is "new old".

This means that if you have a damaged item replaced or stolen, your insurer must pay enough for you to buy a new version.

Some policies cover only "indemnity" coverage, which will take into account the wear and therefore pay less.

But there are a few catches to watch. Many policies do not provide new coverage-for-age on topics such as clothing, bedding and even pedal biking. Check your policy booklet all exclusions.

Another problem is that insurers agree to cover new-old on the grounds that they could decide on suppliers to replace items lost or broken.

For example, if you had a laptop stolen, you would be able to get a replacement machine - the same value - the supplier chosen by the insurer, rather than the same model again, or its equivalent in cash.

And bear in mind that the coverage of new-for-age may be more expensive than a policy of compensation - even though many companies now offer new-for-age as a standard.

What is the contents insurance cover?
Contents insurance covers loss or damage to your property while they are in your house cause whatsoever (except personal malicious damage).
In this context, "property" means essentially anything that is not permanently attached to the structure of your home. While Contents insurance does not cover your kitchen units, but your furniture is. All permanently attached to the structure of your home is covered by home insurance (also known as buildings insurance.)
The most common cause of damage is theft, accidents at home, burst and leaking pipes. But if you can ask if the vandals, storm, fire or flood, falling trees or explosion, damage your belongings. Even the resulting damage to the contents of a vehicle or aircraft crashes into your house is covered. In fact, it is difficult to imagine circumstances where the loss or damage is not guaranteed - oh yes, there is one - deliberate damage. You can not deliberately damage your content and expect to submit a valid application!
Many policies provide you for accidental damage caused by yourself. However, the extent of coverage can vary between policies. So, do check what is included. Learn about the videos, television and computers and what the damage to mirrors and glass in general? You could have to pay an option to have the insured, but it could be very useful. (Claims for these probably will be valid if the items are at home when they are damaged.)
Valuables like jewelry, antiques or works of art will almost certainly need to be specifically mentioned in the contract. It often applies to any item worth more than £ 2,000. (£ 2000 is a guide - please check precisely the limit for valuables on your policy that such limits do vary between insurers.) There will be a charge for the insurance of such objects value listed based on what they are and their value.
Also check whether your goods stored in your garage or garden shed are covered. And what about all garden furniture? Are they insured? You should specifically ask those questions.
You may also be able to extend your insurance cover "all risks" while covering his property (and sometimes a little money) that you take with you when you leave your house. Consult your proposed contract.
Most policies will also offer to insure the contents of your freezer in case of damage caused.
