Divorce / issues bills? I have not been in the apartment for two weeks. (He has since filed for divorce, his fault entirely) I still have effects from it. The utilities are in my name, (and quite high because the type of apartment). At this stage there is no chance of reconciliation. What should I do to protect myself?
Should I call utility companies and tell them what happened and try to get his name out there with mine or what??? (If I cut it, I worry about my things and the rest of the procedure)
Should I call the real estate office and tell them that I was "hunted"?
The first thing you need to do is pick up your belongings. If you do not currently have a new apartment or house to put them in storage. Once you have removed your property utilitiy companies and let them know that you are interrupting service on your behalf. You should also contact the apartment complex and explain the situation to them. Ask being withdrawn for that lease agreement and new lease agreement to provide for your husband only in name. You must also take an ad in the local newspaper stating that from (whatever the date you left) you will not be responsible for debt in your name incuring husbands. Any debt before that date, however, are the responsiblity of the two parties. You must also open a current account in your name only. If it is jointly on the current you will not be able to close it, but you can have your name removed. Make sure you have the money first. and your new credit card came You must contact the credit card you hold jointly and close credit cards can be closed even if you have a balance. This will no new charges can be made. You can then open a new card in your name. You need to contact a lawyer as soon as possible. The one that usually comes first files on the winner at the end. Good luck to you.
you must go to the office and tell them that you out if you have any court documents which will be on your side, if its law would go still your responsibility. utilities shut everything off and inform you in the middle of a separation or divorce and do not allow any new account in your name. poo poo difficult it will open everything under his name DONT let him play with your credit. .
The lease can be in both your names, that would make you liable should he not pay for the remaining term of the lease. You probably have a deposit there too and you could also public services. You can turn off all utilities and just tell him you do this and he can have them transferred to his name. You have the right to enter the apartment and should get your business, you can get a policeman to go with you and it might be better if both of you are where you "your" things.
Get your property, then call the utility and tell them that you no longer live there and you want your name removed from the bill. Tell your husband, he has five days to call the utilities and to give them is information or electric gas etc., will be disabled. This should light a fire under him.
I would not worry about the rest of the procedure, if you rent a flat, have no children, it should be a simple divorce.
If the apartment is in your name and the utilities, he can not evict you. I would first contact with reality, and fetch your things, then cut public services. If you have a phone in your name which is the first thing you need to cut.
First get your stuff and then cut your business is your bills and you will pay
