video surveillance software? I was wondering if anyone knows any software that can edit video (mostly larger) camara footage of security.
A car was stolen friends (gated community) and of course the complex does not know what to do with these images and police do not really care, then he asked me to see what I could do with images , try to obtain a license plate or a face.

Depending on the type of camera, lens and sensor type, it may not be a whole lot you can do. If "action" events from 40 to 50 meters with a wide angle lens, it is probably not too much quality are available to perform a zoom.
However, I suggest that you try Adobe Photoshop. If you are good at this program, you can do incredible things. I use a program called IrfanView. It is common for minor adjustments, but it does not really do the job for very important jobs.
Incidentally, this is one reason that I suggest you use a computer as the heart of your surveillance system!
