Should I be paranoid about my dogs and ticks? We recently moved from South to Maryland (not our first choice) and we brought our terrier £ 22 with us.
We live in a gated community of MD and take our dog often - it is not allowed out without a leash and, unlike my husband, I keep my dog away from the woods and ponds. Recently, we had to leave for a day with friends to attend the funeral. He had been vomiting his food the night before and we did not know what is wrong. We have given instructions to give bland foods at once or just water. When we returned we took him to the vet right away and she found a tick on the neck (most probably a first for him). She also addressed the stomach, it - it ran tests on him and no sign of infection.
Furthermore, since we moved We have missed a month of using the first line on him (he usually does not tick --- especially b / c the place where we used to live in South) I just put some frontline on him after buying it at the vet. However, I am always worried that we might have an infestation, although the vet told us it was like the tick itself just recently joined our little dog.
We used chemicals to keep the ants away and they manicure lawns (home owners association) is not sure that this limits the ticks coming in. I'm still worried about our little dog tick in. I understand ticks and pretty prevalent in this area of the U.S. compared to where we lived. Any chance of a tick might say they are in my sofa and so on? The idea of an invasion of control makes me seriously consider giving my dogs to the family or close friends.
No, I would not worry. I'm sure you've already tried to clean. You know you can actually "see" if they are ticks in your home. If you have not seen, after a good cleaning and if the vet does not tell you that this check looks like it just got attached, I would not worry. You used the first line then it is a plus. I rest easy.
I can not blame you, allergies make your life miserable and a child. I am allergic to many things and rather than risk the life of someone I would consider getting rid of the dog.
No, not ticks and fleas will not infest your home. They are in the grass, shrubs, etc. Just use frontline and it will be fine. You would actually consider giving your dog away something like that? Brighter. There are ticks everywhere, even in the south. I live there.
