Josh Tomlin impressive in his debut against the Yankees, the Tribe wins 4-1 Josh Tomlin made his Major League debut last night for the Indians, and he did not disappoint. Derek Jeter picked up where he left off and flied to center, and Tomlin has officially withdrawn his first major league hitter. Maybe it was just me, but it seemed Tomlin could not help but smile, he worked in the first round. Swisher followed suit, and Teixeira arises so. Tomlin looked impressive and a cruise around the handle does throwing nine pitches. Pretty good beginning for a pitcher against the Yankees in his first appearance.
Shin-Soo was the first hit of the tribe, muscling a ball over the head of Rodriguez. He wasted no time flight 2, and Kearns followed with a shot of his own that should have scored Choo. Unfortunately, Gardner threw a nice hop to the terminal that has done an excellent job blocking the plate. Choo Cervelli was called, but at least the Indians were early signs of life.
Alex Rodriguez started the second for the Yankees, and after two puffs, he grounded to Cabrera. His 600th home run has eluded him in his last 21 bats and counting, and he would not cons Tomlin. The new launcher tribe based on the location and change of speed, as opposed to power-hitters on. But he challenge A-Rod with fastballs throughout the game, and Alex whiffed on almost everyone. Josh Tomlin Cano and Granderson after retirement, and the rookie had a no-hitter through two innings.
Gardner struck to end the inning Yankees third, and powerful Pinstripes was not quite a success against Tomlin. Again, the Indians put Sabathia in the batting order, and after 3, we still had a game without a goal.
Jeter broke the no-hitter do Lead-off hitter in the 4th, but Swisher and Teixeira would be a new pop-up. Trying to make things happen in the middle of A-Rod the second at-bat, Jeter was caught stealing second by a jet of high Gimini and finished the round.
Cabrera finger to the left to start the fourth and the tribe took their first lead-off hitter aboard. Shin-Soo struck terrain difficult to Sabathia left field line, and suddenly we have had men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. On a grounder to third Kearns, Rodriguez decided to return home and throw readily lost Cabrera.
However, Asdrubal made a heads-up, kicking the ball out of glove Cervelli after the label has been applied. Cabrera was called safe, and the tribe took a quick 1-0 lead. Shelley Duncan to germinate the first baseman and the Yankees got their first out of the inning. Jhonny Peralta hit what would have been a routine double play in the infield on paid-Yankees, but Robinson Cano from the foot of the bag and everyone was safe. I'm not sure why manager Joe Girardi came out to argue, Cano clearly made a short play-bus walking out of the bag before turning the DP. That gave a chance with the bases loaded LaPorta, and he hit a ball deep enough to serve as a sacrifice fly, marking Choo. Donald struck, but two mistakes cost the Yankees two runs, and we took a 2-0 lead.
A-Rod hit a new low rolling and at first I did not hit the elusive 600th Home run of his career. Another impressive round by Tomlin, who left the Yankees for the fourth time today.
To begin the bottom of the sixth, Austin Kearns felt the need to break a ball in deep center. Granderson has been on his horse and almost made a big haul, but after he co.
