History

Micron was founded in Boise, Idaho, in 1978 Ward Parkinson, Joe Parkinson, Dennis Wilson, and Doug Pitman. Seed funding was provided by local businessmen Idaho Tom Nicholson, Noble Allen, and Ron Yanke. In the early 1990s the company formed Micron Computers (later known as Micron Electronics) for the manufacture of PCs. The subsidiary was founded in the vicinity of Nampa, Idaho, and sold under the brand names of Micron Computer, and, later, MicronPC & MicronPC.com.

In 1998, Micron Technology has acquired Rendition, a manufacturer of 3D graphics chips.

Control of Internet activities of Micron Technology, Micron Internet Services, has been transferred to Micron Electronics in 1999. To date, five manufacturers have pleaded guilty to their involvement in an international conspiracy to fix prices, including Hynix, Infineon, Micron Technology, Samsung, Elpida and.
